During the meeting on 16 September 2025, we discussed key barriers in the permitting processes for renewable energy investments and the measures necessary to improve them. The event was attended by 58 representatives of the administration, government, renewable energy industry, and non-governmental organisations.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most important challenge remains the lack of a systematic approach to permitting, resulting from underfunding of institutions, staff shortages, insufficient environmental data and fragmented legislation. Participants emphasized the need to strengthen the Regional Directorates for Environmental Protection (RDO\u015a) and the General Directorate for Environmental Protection (GDO\u015a), as was the importance of new initiatives such as the digitalization of processes, environmental guidelines, the development of RES contact points and the creation of RES Accelerated Development Areas.<\/p>\n

The industrial participants pointed out that it is crucial for shortening procedures to enable parallel environmental decisions and local plans, and to develop consistent environmental guidelines for wind energy in consultation with the sector.<\/p>\n

The recommendations gathered during the meeting included: strengthening environmental institutions, digitalization of procedures, better coordination of activities, transparent investment law, and active participation of the industry in consultations.
