The open letter (available<\/span>\u00a0in Polish) was addressed to Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and other members of the government responsible for climate and energy policy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The signatories call on the government to unequivocally adopt the active transformation scenario (WAM) as the basis for national climate and energy policy. However, they point out that this scenario still needs to be refined on the basis of comments submitted during the public consultation on the updated Draft NECP, which ended on November 15.<\/span><\/p>\n “Attempts to design climate and energy policy based on an undefined compromise between no additional action (WEM scenario) and ambitious changes (WAM scenario) consistent with the European legal framework are doomed to failure. (…) The lack of clear goals not only leads to increased environmental damage, but also reduces the competitiveness of the Polish economy,” emphasize\u00a0the signatories.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In addition to adopting the WAM scenario as the basis for updating the\u00a0NECP, the organizations also demand:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The signatories include organizations involved in activities promoting sustainable development and climate protection.\u00a0They\u00a0declare their readiness to cooperate with the government in developing and implementing a comprehensive and socially acceptable energy and climate policy for Poland for the coming decades.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n A full list of signatories can be found in the open letter.
